Ssh...Don't Let the Maid Hear

My rather clever (I feel) title alludes to my Memorial Day celebration of watching the first season of Downtown Abbey in its entirety today. Some might feel that that is a little too much high society and gossip for one sitting- if that's even possible- but, personally, I couldn't be happier with my life decision.

I realize I am three seasons late on this train, but I finally got there folks and that's what is important. I doubt there is anything I can say about the show that hasn't already been praised, gushed about and dissected on the blogosphere. That won't stop me from chiming in with the chorus though.

Everything; the ladies' gowns, hats and impeccable up-dos, the men's waistcoats, derby hats and sense of propriety, the dowager duchess in general, is just absolutely fantastic. Ooh, did I mention the gossip?! It is absolutely horrible to witness, yet I cannot pull my eyes away. All these side issues and interactions happening behind-the-scenes of this gigantic, beautiful estate; I really cannot get enough!

Oh, and did I forget to mention him?

The more practical members of the reading audience (also, likely the ones who have not seen the show) might wonder what on earth did I do for the seven or so hours I spent watching the series? Well, I painted my nails, of course. See? Not an entirely unproductive day. It wasn't the average single color paint job either, no ma'am. I went big. I had a lot of down time after all. Allow me to introduce--- Watermelon Nails!

Before you ask, I decided to grip a baseball because: (A) everyone does the picture where they grip the nail polish bottle to show off their nails and (B) I thought it was somewhat Memorial Day appropriate. I even took two pictures with alternating grips, just to show off my skills.
This one is for my wicked fastball, of course.

So, how did ya'll spend your holiday? Whatever you did, I hope you enjoyed yourself immensely. Also, if you haven't already, start watching Downtown Abbey so we can start chatting about it!

xoxoxo
