Prom: Remixed

So I ask you: What is the ultimate, surefire way to turn a frown upside down?
I have three words for you.
Senior. Center. Prom.
I can assure you that an event like that is even MORE precious than it sounds. It is just like a high school prom except for all the gawky awkwardness and chaperones telling kids to "leave room for the Holy Spirit". Instead, imagine a room with a bunch of older adults who seriously know how to get down.

I am not exaggerating either. I was asked to dance the Rumba with a particularly youthful octogenarian and was, quite literally, swept off my feet!

Some pics of us in action!
He was definitely carrying the weight of that dance. I was like two left feet. I had to be reminded several times to stop looking at my feet and just follow his lead.Which eventually culminated with a very unexpected dip. I was so caught off guard, I screamed right at the poor prom-goers resting their feet.
They simply laughed at me.
It really was so fantastic though! I was twirling, spinning, dipping, and everything in between. It actually made me a bit sad that this kind of dancing doesn't get enough play these days. Like when my generation become older adults, will any of us even know how to dance like this?
Freak dancing is suddenly less appealing when the prospect of "getting-low" carries the risk of not being able to get back up!
Just a thought to mull over.

Overall, I can safely say that it was an absolutely lovely day!
It was borderline too fantastic to witness, frankly. I mean, can you see some of these outfits?! Absolutely fabulous!

Me manning the ticket table. Like a champ.
So, the moral of the story:
If you ever get the chance to volunteer at a senior center's prom,
DO IT!!
