Is your mouth watering just a bit? |
Firstly, I should not have said we "attempted" to make a pie because, as you can see, we most certainly succeeded! It was a tad bit bumpy getting there, but what fun is baking if goes smoothly the whole way through? I mean, honestly. It is all about the memory making in my mind. That and "cleaning" all the extra filling once the pans have been filled.
I would like you to be aware that those apples were painstakingly peeled by yours truly. Taylor was able to finish everything else and chop the peeled apples in the time that it took me to finish, but still I was pretty proud of my handiwork regardless.
We even decided to add a little flair by putting heart-shaped dough pieces on the top.
Well, Taylor added them. I put myself in charge of documenting the event. Someone has to preserve the memory-making after all. As you can see, our skills in the kitchen are quite evenly matched.
While our delicious success cooled, we thought we'd keep the American pride going by cheering on the local Sonoma State baseball team. Needless to say, an excellent decision!
There is nothing quite like sitting on the grass in the crisp air heckling college baseball players. Baseball is definitely my ideal spectator sport. At the time we went, the Major League season hadn't started yet but this provided the perfect taste to get me geared-up for it.
I will share a secret with you though, I found myself rooting for the opposing team far more than our own guys.(shh)
In my defense though, these guys were extremely loud and hilarious whenever they had someone up at bat. That is pretty much all that is needed to sway my opinion, I'll be honest. Plus, I was quite fond of their uniforms. (I can hear athletic women the world over smacking their hands against their heads as they read that line) The purple was just so vibrant!
Regardless of uniforms, all was well that ended well. Apparently, the teams played each other twice that day and either team won once. The flip-flopper I am at heart rejoiced.
With that, Taylor and my impromptu American Day comes to a close. I wish I could tell you that we found some cows to wrangle but, alas, this is the only candidate we found:
and she just seems far too content for such a thing.
Well, I hope you have all enjoyed a relatively calm Monday; as calm as one can ever hope a Monday to be anyway. I will talk to all you lovelies soon.
Good Night xoxo
